Today, we carried out the experiment, and we converted the flowchart into an electronic version and revised it. At first, we found out that the initial material for the boat is not light enough to get observable result, so I figured out the second generation of the boat: two layers of water-proof tape with a paper in the middle. Although the second generation was still not perfect enough and we decided to use milk box as the material of the boat, I still provided a step in our thoughts. After lunch, I revised the flowchart of the process of the experiment. I used computational thinking during the process: first I divided the whole process into three parts (preparing part, experimenting part and analysis part). Then I determined that the preparation of boats should be done before the experiments, so I put “cut the box” before the loop of the trails. Finally, after all trials are done, we will calculate and process the data, and then get a conclusion whether the hypothesis is approved or not.
The most motivated part was drawing the flowchart, because that’s where I was clearest about. I could insert my understanding of aesthetics into the chart and at the same time, demonstrate the process clearly. The least motivated part was the experiment part, because I did not understand the reason behind the process sometimes, and the processes were repeating all the time, which was quite boring. I did this by drinking milk tea and forget about the boredom.
My goal for tomorrow is to direct the video, interview by teammates to write about their understanding as natural science students and edit the film.
